Australian packaging solution provider BioPak has won the 2024 WorldStar Award in the packaging materials and components category with its aqueous BioCups.

The business creates BioCups using water-based coating technology and FSC-certified paper. In addition, its aqueous BioCup lids are also compostable, encouraging customers to control their sustainable disposal in their home compost.

Gary Smith, CEO of BioPak, said that this award drives the company to continually think outside the box and bring innovative solutions to market.

“At BioPak, we create sustainable, innovative packaging solutions designed for the circular economy,” added Smith.

“It is both humbling and encouraging to be acknowledged by the World Packaging Organisation and the Worldstar Packaging Awards, the most prestigious global packaging accolade.”

This year, all BioCups ranges will apply the water-based coating technology. According to Smith, BioPak is also spending efforts to develop new technology and packaging solutions to bring innovative products to market.

WorldStar Packaging Awards honour innovations in packaging design and technology and showcasing outstanding packaging from across the globe.
