The Australia-based sex and sleep brand The Department of Bed Intentions has introduced the world’s first microbiome-friendly certified water-based lubricant.

With the aim to offer high-quality products related to sexual health and sleep science, the brand has utilised natural active ingredients including Green Tea seed extract and fermented Cranberry to soothe and support skin.

Founder Sophie McGrath looks for three things when creating products: Australian-made, skin-and-body-friendly, and environmentally friendly. After working with experienced scientist and formulator Wanda Chin, the brand makes sure its lubricant can maintain the user’s natural microbiome balance and pH levels.

In addition, the lubricant’s packaging is 100 per cent plastic-free, encouraging customers to recycle at home.

The Department of Bed Intentions is the first sexual health company in Australia and New Zealand to receive a B-Corp certification. The company pledges to use sustainable methods and plans to launch innovative goods in all categories by the end of the next year.

Online shoppers may now purchase water-based lubricant for $35.
