New reusable water bottles just launched by eco-friendly brand Ello comprise 50 per cent certified recycled materials from Eastman Tritan.

One 769ml keep-bottle is made from 12 recycled single-use plastic drink containers.

Ello says it is selling the bottle to support the larger sustainability push by consumers, extend its zero-waste product range, and reduce single-use plastic packaging. The company also hopes to educate people about environmental issues.

Founded with the message of helping create a “Clean, Safe, Green” environment, Ello is passionate about replacing single-use food-and-beverage products with eco containers that can make people feel more environmentally friendly and stylish.

Collaborating with Eastman – a global specialty materials company – the new bottle product line is made from Tritan Renew,  a new recycling technology used to make durable, high-performance, food-safe products free from BPA, BPS and BPF materials.

Ello boosts sustainability with new water bottle

“Tritan Renew is the first recycled plastic material that stands up to the quality demands of our products and process, so we jumped at the chance to design a bottle that matches the sustainable qualities of the material itself,” said Glen Gilmore, Ello’s director of design. “The bottle minimises material use while maximising durability and cleanability to extend the overall life of the product.”

“In the ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ model, ‘reduce’ comes first – and so it did with this design. We incorporated the top-performing design details from our best-selling products to make this bottle as versatile and reliable as possible. From capacity to lid interface to carry-loop, we’ve optimised every inch. The lid is also designed to separate into individual parts, so the different components can be recycled where possible.”

The Ello water bottle is available in Target stores in the US and via online platforms. Both Ello and Eastman wish to be a part of the sustainability journey to make small changes added up to a big impact for nature changing.
