In Australia, personal-care company Nature’s Organic produces an eco-friendly range of shampoo under the brand My Soda – quality, plant-based haircare in refill packs designed to reduce plastic waste by 80 per cent.

My Soda is the first haircare brand sold in Australian supermarkets to offer a sustainable refill solution. The refillable bottles are made from recycled plastic and the brand has partnered with REDcycle to ensure its refill pouches can be upcycled after being returned to Woolworths stores, enabling soft plastics to be converted into items such as modern lawn furniture and playground equipment.

“With sustainability at the forefront of consumerism right now, we’re so proud to bring a naturally plant-based, affordable, and trend-inspired haircare brand to Australian consumers, aimed at helping to reduce the environmental impact on our planet,” says Elise Synnott, marketing manager at Natures Organics.

The shampoo itself is formulated with cruelty-free and vegan ingredients and enhanced with organic aloe vera, rosehip oil and coconut oil. It comes in three forms: Smooth, Hydrate, and Cleanse.

It sells at an RRP for $10 per 350ml bottle and $12 per 500ml refill pouch pack, exclusively at Woolworths.

Founded in 1981, family-owned Natures Organics has a commitment to sustainability. Its homecare and personal care products are made at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria with the help of solar power, reducing company carbon emissions by over 4500 tonnes since installation. By using recycled plastics, Natures Organics estimates it has saved 1.6 million kilograms of plastic from potential landfill in the past year alone.
