American luxury giant Ralph Lauren unveiled its first Cradle to Cradle (C2C) certified product during the Global Fashion Agenda’s Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen as part of its “Live On” circularity initiative.

The initiative was developed as part of the brand’s sustainability strategy with its commitment to create with intent, protect the environment, and champion better lives. The company aims to create enduring products meant to be “worn or generations” and apply them across the value chain.

As part of the unveiling, the brand revealed that its iconic cashmere sweater would be its first luxury C2C certified product. Cradle to Cradle certification is the global standard for circular, safe, and responsibly made products.

According to the luxury giant, every sweater component will be certified – from the cashmere fibre to its dyes and every label made with organic cotton. In addition, consumers will have the option of recirculating the sweater for its next use through a cashmere recycling program.

“At Ralph Lauren, we have always believed in creating things that last— that never go out of style,” said Katie Ioanilli, chief global impact & communications officer at Ralph Lauren.

“Today, as we unveil our Live On promise and Timeless by Design approach, we embrace Ralph’s vision of timelessness more deeply and boldly than ever before.”
