Principles of sustainability are slowly gaining traction in Russia, as more consumers are looking for ways to practice mindful consumption. Online fashion and lifestyle marketplace owner Global Fashion Group (GFG) has launched the first-of-its kind sustainable shopping edit in the Russia & CIS region. Consumers can now conveniently shop for environmentally friendly products via the Lamoda website and its app, Lamoda Planet. Lamoda categorises the selection by six distinct criteria:
  1. Recycle and Innovation – Products are made from at least 50 per cent recycled, sustainable, or innovative materials.
  2. Eco-composition – Products are made from organic and natural materials with certifications such as EcoCert, ICEA, BDIH, Natrue and others.
  3. Cruelty-free – No animal testing was done on the products
  4. Vegan – Products do not contain any animal ingredients or animal-derived materials.
  5. Care for the Planet – Products that have prioritised sustainability by reducing water, electricity, and carbon consumption.
  6. I Want to Help – Products from trusted charities that are selling on Lamoda.
According to Oksana Kostiv, head of corporate social responsibility at Lamoda, the company knows how important sustainability and responsible consumption are to its customers. Similar edits have been launched in Australia and Southeast Asia. “All six categories of the sustainable shopping edit will be continuously updated with new products and brands. Next year, we plan to add more detailed product descriptions and special tags to facilitate easier navigation. There is still much work ahead, but a conscious start has already been made,” says Oksana. The introduction of GFG’s sustainable shopping edit in Russia & the CIS follows the launch of the “I Want to Help” charity project with Dobro Mail.ru and Need Help, and Levi’s launch’s: new ecological collection, also available on Lamoda Planet.
