KFC in the US is introducing a plant-based fried chicken option ‘Beyond Fried Chicken’ developed exclusively by Beyond Meat

The plant-based dish will be sold across the US for a limited time. The prices for the Beyond Fried Chicken at KFC starts at US$6.99 in most places but will vary by location.

The first iteration of Beyond Fried Chicken was first introduced in 2019 as a part of a limited-run test in Atlanta. The range sold out in less than five hours. Last year, KFC and Beyond Meat expanded the trial to other regions, including Nashville and Charlotte.

“The mission from day one was simple – make the world-famous Kentucky Fried Chicken from plants,” said Kevin Hochman, president at KFC US. “And now over two years later we can say, ‘mission accomplished’.”

Beyond Fried Chicken is served with a choice of your favorite KFC dipping sauce – Honey BBQ, Ranch, Honey Mustard and KFC Sauce.

KFC is one of the latest fast food chains to foray into the plant-based sector. This week, Burger King launched vegan nuggets across the UK as part of its commitment to provide a 50 per cent meat-free menu by 2030.

Meanwhile, McDonald’s has announced its McPlant Burger will be now available across all outlets in the UK and Ireland.
