Flor de Caña – a sustainably certified rum brand – has relaunched its Sustainable Cocktail Challenge in a new version of the brand’s Zero Waste Cocktail Month

Flor De Caña introduced Zero Waste Cocktail Month two years ago in an effort to motivate the global alcohol sector and consumers to embrace responsible drinking and eliminate food waste.

In keeping with that purpose statement, this year’s contest will see competing bars exhibit sustainable cocktails made with Flor De Caña 12 based on an open-ended brief to allow creative approaches centred on using sustainable products and upcycling.

From July 1 to 31, competitors will compete in local finals before moving on to the Apac regionals, and eventually vying with international contenders for the title of Flor De Caña’s Sustainability Champion, with a grand prize of US$10,000.

The Sustainable Cocktail Challenge is being held in 11 bars in Singapore. Drink enthusiasts can expect to sample new creations from prominent establishments including Employees Only Singapore, Smoke & Mirrors, and Gibson Bar.

All participating bars will be inducted into the Flor De Caña Sustainable Society, which entitles members to educational seminars for staff as well as a sustainability bar manual filled with step-by-step guidance and advice. Participating bartenders will also be featured in the annual Flor De Caa Sustainable Cocktails Recipe Book.
