The leading vermicompost product company, Worm Power, has secured $900,000 from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) that will be used to help satisfy rising demand for all-natural, organic fertilisers and biostimulants.
Worm Power says it will use the funds to expand production of its earthworm-fuelled soil nutrient vermicompost.
Patrick Burke, CEO of Worm Power, emphasised the brand is ready to take on the next phase.
“Whether growers are looking to improve food production, increase crop nutrient intake or reduce overall carbon footprint, customers are coming to us because they hear we have an innovative yet proven solution,” added Burke.
“Once we increase our production – potentially tenfold – we’ll be able to increase access to our products, meet customer demand and provide a vital pathway to more sustainable farming practices.”
With the help of USDA’s grant, Worm Power can buy and update its equipment, construct additional product and storage facilities, and upgrade site access at the farm to facilitate on-site loading and shipping processes.
The USDA’s grant, a part of the Fertilizer Production Expansion Program (FPEP), aims to assist independent vendors such as Worm Power in producing innovative, farmer-focused, and sustainable fertilizer solutions.
