Nike has collaborated with Ananas Anam to launch a plant-based trainer collection made from pineapple leather.

Called Happy Pineapple, the collection is manufactured from Pinatex, a natural textile made from waste pineapple leaf fibre, and other sustainable materials such as cork. The range consists of five models in several colourways, including Air Force 1, Air Max 90, Air Max 95 and Air Zoom Type.

“Nike merges its innovative silhouettes with juicy hues and clever details paying homage to a summertime staple – the pineapple,” Ananas Anam said on its social media.

“Pinatex has been used on the brand’s iconic models in key parts of the shoe together with other sustainable materials such as cork.”
