Foret, a Peta-approved vegan accessories brand, recently launched its “New Beginnings” collection. All fashion accessories from Foret are handmade from genuine cork. However, polyester and PU materials are still used in handbags depending on the design. The brand ensures that the usage of non-sustainable materials is not more than 2 per cent. The label works with artisans in India to create accessories from cork, while the jewellery is handcrafted in Foret’s studio. Cork is the outer bark of an oak tree that regrows after you cut it, making the product 100% sustainable. Bark from the oak trees is harvested only every 9 years, allowing the tree to replenish and live for another 200 years. Cork is eco-friendly, dust resistant, water-resistant, hypoallergenic and durable. With every purchase, the company also provides a portion of our proceeds to grow a forest in rural Maharashtra and help farmers become financially independent.
