Aussie men’s swimwear and beachwear brand The Lifestyle Co is contributing to reducing ocean pollution and litter on beaches by upcycling more than 240,000 plastic bottles.

The company repurposed up to 10 PET plastic bottles per piece of swimwear and up to 18 plastic bottles per pair of swim shorts produced for its latest collections the 2Eros and Supawear ranges.

According to the NSW government, single-use plastics account for 95 per cent of beach litter. The government’s goal through a single-use plastics ban is to stop 2.7 billion pieces of plastic litter from entering the environment during the next 20 years.

The Lifestyle Co founder Jason Hoeung told Inside Small Business that he believes all consumers can contribute in any way to reducing ocean pollution – no matter how small their effort may seem.

“Here at The Lifestyle Co, we can champion the change together, for a better planet, today, not tomorrow. One item of swimwear at a time.”

The Lifestyle Co will continue to create a sustainable program that enables the company to run its business while also supporting the environment and its customers.

About two years ago, Beginning Boutique of Australia released a seven-piece sustainable swimwear collection made from recycled fishing nets and plastic bottles.
