Lizzy Nash, a filmmaker based in Sydney and a mother of a teenager, has produced a 28-episode series on YouTube and TikTok that aims to inspire and empower young Australians to take action against climate change.
The series “Stay Tuned To Our Planet” features leading eco-influencers from Australia, including presenter and YouTuber Mathew McKenna, who discuss important environmental challenges and offer viable solutions for the youth.
Research shows that one in three young Australians experience daily anxiety related to climate change. Moreover, 72 per cent of them find positive stories about climate change beneficial in coping with their sadness related to the issue.
Nash noted that prior to creating this series, there were no digital or social media tools focused on climate change conversations for teenagers.
After three and a half years of collaboration with researchers, mental health experts, production teams, and a teen advisory board she was able to bring this series to life in order to provide young people with resources for action.
The entire production budget used was from Nash’s savings because she wanted to “create something that will have a lasting impact and hopefully leave a legacy behind.”
She hopes to raise funds and charitable donations to expand the series into a free educational initiative for Australian community organizations and schools in the future.

Along with being a part of the Documentary Australia Environmental Accelerator initiative, the series has the support of the Orygen Institute, the University of Melbourne, headspace, Planet Ark, Environmental Education, NSW, Parents for Climate, Conservation Volunteers Australia, and Surfers for Climate.
