Luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has unveiled its first environmentally friendly sneaker, dubbed Charlie.

Made with 90-per-cent recycled and bio-based materials, the upper is crafted from fabric composed of recycled polyester and corn-based plastic Biopolioli. The outsole comes from recycled rubber.

While the branding and the back of Charlie’s sneakers are made with Econyl, which is recycled from nylon waste, the insole and lining are manufactured from recycled polyurethane and recycled polyester. Louis Vuitton’s Charlie also comes with recycled cardboard packaging that can be converted into a transportable bag.

The new Louis Vuitton sustainable sneaker is the brand’s first unisex sneaker. Charlie comes in low-top and high-top versions.
