From Spain come Pink Albatross plant-based ice creams, which contain just four ingredients and are promoted as suitable for vegetarians, people with gluten intolerance and those allergic to eggs, peanuts or soy.

According to Hong Kong’s Green Queen the frozen treats are already distributed throughout Spain through supermarkets and some delivery platforms – now the brand’s owner Rethink Foods is eyeing expansion into overseas markets.

“Its ambitious plans to make its products accessible to mainstream consumers, at a time when flexitarianism is at an all-time high, has real potential to disrupt the dairy ice cream industry,” observes Green Queen.

The founders of Rethink Foods are former executives of Nestle who say they want to “transform the world of desserts”.

“We have decided to start with ice cream, creating the creamiest 100-per-cent plant-based ice cream,” explain Pepe Biaggio and Luke Saldanha, picture above.

“We use clean ingredients, pronounceable by a five-year-old child, do not use artificial ingredients or obtained through chemical processes and our purchasing process is thorough.”

“We seek to transform through pleasure and to change the consumption of sweets providing alternatives without using animal products though delivering a sublime experience with each spoonful.
