Boldly, a new plant-based food brand, is launching a comprehensive range of plant-based alt-fish products, including vegan calamari, salmon and tuna sashimi, shrimp, crab sticks, and white fish filets.

The brand is collaborating with restaurant and foodservice partners across the US to debut the products this northern hemisphere summer.

Boldly aims to imitate the original seafood’s flavour and texture, targeting consumers who are adopting more plant-based items in their diets. The company uses konjac root vegetable as a core ingredient.

With more than 3 billion people considering seafood as a main source of protein in their diets, Boldy is on a mission to provide vegan seafood for the $600+ billion global market.

The Boldly alt-fish vegan seafood range was unveiled at the Seed Food and Wine Festival in Miami, drawing what the company’s Australian founder Allen Zelden described as “overwhelming support”.

“It’s clear the momentum is because consumers are now looking beyond the burger as they become more aware of the environmental and sustainability issues tied to our food systems,” he said after the event.

“Plant-based seafood is still uncharted territory for millions of people and with consumers increasingly seeking alternatives to conventional meat and dairy, I firmly believe the time is right for the next evolution of plant-based seafood products.”

Zelden is also co-founder of PlantForm, the private label arm of a plant-based manufacturing operation with global distribution across five continents and more than 1000 SKUs on the market.

During the Miami event, curious consumers participated in tastings, panel discussions, and an exclusive dinner collaboration with Planta, one of the most creative and well-liked plant-based restaurants in the country.
