Understanding the demand for socialising and sustainability, Biopak – a global eco-friendly packaging company – has introduced a new Beer BioCup range designed to offer more sustainable drinkware at events.
Compliant with single-use plastic bans across Australia, these compostable cups are crafted with FSC-certified paper and coated with plant-based bioplastic, meeting environmental guidelines and fostering circularity.
In addition, the Beer BioCups are certified to AS4736 industrial compost standards, offering a compostable alternative to conventional plastic.
“By offering Beer BioCups, we hope to empower venues and event organisers to make a positive impact on the environment without compromising on the experience of enjoying a refreshing beverage,” said Trevor Rumble, product and innovation director of BioPack.
“BioPak’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond the development of compostable products,” added Rumble. “We are dedicated to educating consumers and businesses to reduce single-use plastics and transition to compostable alternatives,”
While the estimated usage of around 20,000 to 80,000 plastic beer cups on cricket match days or an AFL game, the after-used BioCup can be accumulated and diverted from landfills to become nutrient-rich compost through Compost Connect, a non-profit, brand-agnostic platform aims to provide a solution for compostable products and food waste.
BioPak’s Beer BioCups are available in 420ml / 14oz and 600ml / 20oz sizes.
