1800 Tequila and the Sydney Botanic Gardens have collaborated to develop ‘The Greenhouse Bar by 1800 Tequila – The Bar Devoted to Biodiversity’ – a greenhouse exhibit in Sydney and Melbourne this week.

The bar installation, which pays tribute to the diversity and fragility of Australian native botanicals, is intended to raise awareness of Australia’s biodiversity problem by highlighting simple actions that Australians can take to promote biodiversity in their communities and across the country.

“The Greenhouse Bar by 1800 Tequila represents an important partnership in our mission to raise awareness about Australia’s biodiversity crisis amongst young Australians,” said John Siemon, director of horticulture and living collection at the Botanic Gardens of Sydney.

“This immersive experience not only celebrates the extraordinary versatility of Australian botanicals but also serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need for plant conservation action.”

The Bar Devoted to Biodiversity builds on the success of Proximo Spirits’ global effort, The Agave Project, and last year’s The Recycled Bar activation.

According to the company, Australia is one of the top seven countries responsible for 60 per cent of global biodiversity loss. More than 1300 native Australian plant species are vulnerable or on the verge of extinction, which is more than double the number of native animal species.
