GS Caltex, the South Korean oil refiner, has partnered with Nestle’s Korean unit to use eco-friendly compound resin for the processing and manufacturing of the plastic capsules sold by Lotte-Nestle Korea’s Nescafe Dolce Gusto.

The collected plastic capsules will be processed as recyclable raw materials which will then be used to create upcycled eco-friendly resins.

The plan is part of a broader initiative of the two companies to develop an eco-friendly circular economy by promoting resource efficiency and carbon reduction. The two companies signed a business agreement consenting to reduce waste generation and implement an upcycling system to generate new value.

Using Lotte-Nestle Korea’s recycled raw materials, GS Caltex aims to develop high-value-added products as well.
