Wrap (Waste and Resources Action Programme), an international UK-founded climate action group working with some of the biggest global brands, has launched an Asia-Pacific office in Adelaide, its first office abroad.
Located at the Urrbrae campus of the University of Adelaide, and opened in partnership with Fight Food Waste, the office marks a significant step toward Wrap becoming a truly global NGO.
With an Australian headquarters, the organisation can broaden its reach in the Asia-Pacific region, along with accelerating the work on food waste reduction, plastic pollution, and sustainable textiles – as well as support partners in their shift to a circular economy.
“I’m thrilled to be leading Wrap’s first overseas office and to be able to share Wrap’s expertise and experience in the race to net zero,” said Claire Kneller, Wrap Asia-Pacific MD.
She said she looks forward to working closely with Wrap’s partners in the region and seeking out “new, game-changing initiatives that will help us address climate change”.
Wrap is making impacts through these initiatives:
• Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands Plastic Pact
• Love Food Hate Waste International
• Halving food loss and waste by leveraging economic systems in Indonesia
• Malaysia Sustainable Plastics Alliance
• National Clothing Product Stewardship Scheme
Wrap has encouraged 100 retailers – accounting for two-thirds of the UK clothing market – to join hands to achieve a single goal: to cut down the environmental impact of the textile market.
