Luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co has introduced exclusive Koala designs as part of its Save The Wild Collection in order to support the conservation of this species.

According to the company, all proceeds from the designs will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Network (WCN) which will then invest in the most effective projects to protect the koala and its habitat in Australia after the bushfires.

The koala line consists of a sterling silver charm and an 18k white gold brooch with diamonds, ranging from AU$925 to $24,800.

“Funds from the Save The Wild collection’s new koala designs will enable WCN to deepen its existing investments in effective koala conservation projects to have a long-term impact on the species’ well-being,” the company said in a statement.

According to the company, koala populations have plummeted with the 80-per-cent reduction of their natural habitat resulting from settlement expansions across the continent. Found primarily on the eastern coast of Australia, these precious animals are classified as “decreasing” by the IUCN Red List.

As a result of the bushfires last year, more than 3 billion animals perished or became displaced.

Tiffany & Co launched its Save The Wild Collection in 2017, donating the entire profits to WCN which has provided critical funds for more than 450 on-the-ground conservation projects to protect elephants, lions, rhinos, and now koalas.

Last April, Tiffany & Co achieved US$10 million in total donations to the Wildlife Conservation Network through the Save The Wild collection.
